The Big Texan Dinosaur
Meet Big Tex-Rex
Big Tex-Rex is a 27′ tall Green Dinosaur, “Cowboy-ed Up” with spurs & yellow western bandana.
He recently moved to Amarillo from the Historic West End District of Downtown Dallas.
He was custom made for movie stars; Bruce Willis & Arnold Swarzenegger to welcome guest at their 1989 Planet Hollywood Dallas Restaurant.
When the eatery closed in 1996, Big Tex Rex was sadly left behind.
In 2012,while visiting Dallas- Big Texan owners Bobby & Danny Lee spotted the lonesome green reptile. Both brothers knew that this towering icon, needed to be re-located to a place that thousands of people (not just pigeons) would love having him around.
Most remarkable was the wonderful memories that both Lee brothers immediately felt from their new scaly friend. Fond childhood memories from a family vacation “out-west on Route 66″that included a dinosaur roadside attraction.
Their decision was made & Big Tex Rex was on his way to his new home at a place where everything is truly Bigger.
Today he proudly welcomes hundreds of thousand Big Texan guest.
His has new boots, spurs & has been 100% repaired, repainted. In fact; people that remember him from his Dallas days, say that his smile is even bigger now.
